|Dan Mapes is is a digital media entrepreneur with an MBA in International Business and a strong background in management and high technology product development for internet and entertainment applications. His career has included digital media product development in Silicon Valley and digital entertainment projects in Hollywood.
He is President and Co-founder of MagNet Solutions in Los Angeles. The MagNet Solution is a revolutionary suite of web-enabled software and services. The flagship product is a viral ecommerce micro-shop powered by an enterprise-class server core and a best-of-breed content management system that enables artists, brands, and rights holders to deliver music, videos, mobile content, merchandise and more directly to consumers worldwide.
His background includes designing image-rich rock tours with Peter Gabriel, creating the first music composing software for the Macintosh, producing The First Summit in Cyberspace between Nelson Mandela and Shimon Peres using advanced internet videoconferencing technology, designing a nationwide e-learning system for the Saudi Arabian school system and performing on the Tonight Show with his visual music ensemble.
In 1998, he was the Founder and President of eCity Studios in Los Angeles, a broadband, multi-media content production company that specialized in advanced 3D imaging and digital media for film, television, computer games and the Internet. Among its many projects, eCity co-developed the most advanced laser systems for the digital capture of human form and movements and applied those to games for consoles and the internet as well as film and television.
From 1994 to 1998, he served as the CEO of Cyberlab 7 in San Francisco where he pioneered the creation of Web-based digital media applications and video game applications. During this time, he also was Co-Founder and the primary inventor in 1996 of Ditto.com, the first image-based internet search engine.
Mr. Mapes studied artificial intelligence and operations research as a Flood Fellow in the PhD program at the University of California at Berkeley. He received an MBA, magna cum laude from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from the University of Cincinnati with a Major in Economics and Computer Programming. Over the years, he has lived and worked in Europe (England, France, Germany) and Asia (Japan, China) and has studied multiple languages. He currently resides in Los Angeles and has a 230 acre ranch in Santa Barbara that he is developing into a center for advanced ideas in ecological development.
